The Merchant’s House, in the Heritage Protected Village of Old Perithia, offers a unique glimpse of the island as it was in times gone by. This privately owned and managed boutique B&B thoughtfully combines the luxury of a four star hotel with the coziness, ease and comfort of a 'home away from home'.
This, the oldest village on the island, used to be a hideaway from pirate attacks, a place where you could see, but not be seen from the sea. Old Perithia at 408m, nestles below Mount Pantokrator, the highest point on Corfu, and is an excellent vantage point for walking. The beautiful sea and beaches along the northeast coast, from Agios Spyridon to Kassiopi and Agios Stefanos, are all within a scenic 15-25 minute drive.
Enjoy the clean mountain air, the spirit of the place, the mood and beauty of the landscape, the undisturbed charm of its houses and churches. The village has 5 tavernas serving local dishes both winter and summer, popular with locals and visitors alike.
The property is a faithfully restored row of 'Merchant's Houses' (c. 1650) with a private terrace and garden. From Spring until Autumn, in an area of natural beauty, you can have not just a villa, but a whole village to yourselves, or try our Best of Corfu with 'Town & Country' or 'Sea & Scenic' combinations.
In the day, visit the beach or stroll through the cobbled paths, admire the characteristic houses with their Venetian origins, explore the surrounding countryside, or simply enjoy the peace and quiet, rest and relaxation. In the evening, relax and unwind in the gentle luxury of our boutique B&B where, resting on our terrace beneath unpolluted night skies, you can listen to the sounds of the Ionian night as it settles over the hills.
